'Ferrari want Vettel to replace Massa'

http://moto-gp-f1.blogspot.com/Vettel, who became F1's youngest World Champion with his title victory with Red Bull in 2010, has often been connected to Ferrari in the past.

Not only has the German admitted that racing for the Italian outfit would be "special" but now di Montezemolo has exposed he wants Vettel.

"Sebastian is fast, smart and young," he told Cologne tabloid Express. "Sooner or afterward he will be driving a red car."

The newspaper added that Ferrari are eager to have the German's services in 2012, teaming him up with Fernando Alonso as Felipe Massa's replacement.

Vettel, though, insists he is dedicated to Red Bull Racing: "I am a part of the Red Bull family."
However, even Red Bull team proprietor Dietrich Mateschitz admits his outfit could face a tough confront retaining the German in the face of the "dream" of racing for Ferrari.

"It's a once in a life-time dream to drive for Ferrari but we will make send-off a difficult decision for him," said Mateschitz.

"We have so far been also quick to agree. And he wants to win."

Merry Christmas from Formula1

http://moto-gp-f1.blogspot.com/The 2010 season saw five drivers from three teams score wins, with four of them still in the hunt for the finals at the very last race, where the title was claimed by the sport’s youngest ever champion - Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Some say it was procedure One’s best-ever season. Whether you agree or not, it’s certainly been memorable.

And as 2010 draws to a close, we'd like to express thanks for your support over the past 12 months and wish our all our users the very best for the Christmas era.

Pointless to say the first few weeks of 2011 already look set to be busy ones, as the teams gear up to reveal and trial their new machines in February’s first test sessions, ahead of the breach round of the new season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, on March 13.

Will 2010’s new teams - Lotus, HRT and Virgin - take the fight to the midfielders and set up themselves as point-scoring contenders? Will the revamped system, including the banning of F-ducts and double diffusers and the introduction of KERS and adaptable rear wings, make a difference to the success of the frontrunners? Or will the button from Bridgestone to Pirelli tyres shake up the field?

Will Red Bull prove to be just as inexorable as they were this year or will McLaren and Ferrari emerge from the winter break invigorated and ready to tackle the young upstarts from Milton Keynes? And can Michael Schumacher lastly get to grips with his Mercedes?

Marking the halfway point in the season – the ninth of 18 rounds on the 2010 MotoGP calendar – the Californian sunshine welcomed the premier class to the Laguna Seca in late July, and provided the chance for the premier class stars to enjoy some of the glitz and glamour thanks to the close nearness to Hollywood.

Trophy time for Vettel and Red Bull

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner composed the constructor’s trophy from Formula One Management (FOM) CEO Bernie Ecclestone, while Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Mark Webber of Red Bull picked up awards for second and third place in this year’s championship.



“This is an astonishing evening for me and for the Red Bull Racing team,” said Vettel. “I'm delighted to be here to collect the driver's championship trophy, something I have dreamt of since I started racing. charming the championship is unbelievable; it marks an incredible season for us, with many ups and downs. We kept believe in our team, in our team, in our car and enjoyed every race.



“I would actually like to thank all the Red Bull Racing team and Renault Engines for their efforts and devotion in ensuring we had such an amazing car this year. I am tremendously proud of the success we have achieved together."



It was a unforgettable season for the Red Bull team, taking a total of 15 pole positions throughout the championship. This season also saw the team achieve six of the best ever laps with Vettel and Webber each scoring three respectively.



“This has been a tough but hard to believe year for Red Bull Racing. Being presented with the constructors’ championship trophy is the perfect end to what has been an outstanding season for us,” said Horner. “I would like to thank Sebastian and Mark for their hard work and commitment this year. Seb is the youngest ever Formula One world champion and a very deserving one at that. His success is down to what he has done on the circuit and the team is hugely proud of what he has achieved.
